Collection: Mending The Fragments - Maps
The project 'Mending The Fragments' deals with the dismantling, assembly and reintegration of the land. This sub collection features maps of Israel and the Middle East that have been torn apart and reassembled in front of new terrain.
The idea for this project is the result of feelings that have existed in us for the past year following what is happening in Israel. The collective sense of fracture brought with it a desire to bridge the fractures and create a new reality. The inspiration for the design of the project comes from two sources:
The concept of Japanese Wabi Sabi and Kintsugi art, according to which there is grace in asymmetry, fragments and incompleteness.
The theory of the broken jar, which is a description in psychology that deals with the different ways to deal with difficulty and brokenness.
The visual inspiration for the collection comes from the color and variety in which the country and the land are presented in the atlases on maps of climate, population, agriculture, etc.
